Maintain and repair the existing infrastructure and perform new construction

Essential Job Duties

•Maintain facilities and grounds infrastructure, including painting, carpentry and construction.
•Troubleshoot and perform electrical, concrete, HVAC, and plumbing repairs.
•Oversee and/or complete new construction projects by completing bids, assigning tasks and monitoring timesheets, progress, budgets, etc.
•Schedule and/or perform regular preventative maintenance tasks.
•Address all other repair or maintenance issues.
•Create work schedules, approve time off requests and verify time sheets for payroll.
•Troubleshoot and operate all hand tools, power tools and heavy machinery.
•Train staff on proper safety and equipment operating procedures.
•Procure materials for construction projects.
•Order tools and other inventory supplies, as needed.
•Verify invoices against purchase orders and budget, and submit for payment.
•Approve and submit purchasing card reimbursement requests.
•Communicate with internal and external parties regarding maintenance needs and project status, by phone, email and in-person discussions.

Ancillary Job Duties

•Participate as a member of the District Coordination Team, and the Regional Safety Committee.
•Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Four (4) years of experience as a journeyman carpenter.
•Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled work in building, electrical and mechanical trades.
•Ability to read blueprints.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
•Ability to work irregular work hours and weekends occasionally.
•Ability to travel extensively and be absent from home up to five days and four nights per week.
•Ability to perform all types of carpenter, concrete, plumbing and electrical work required for a completed building.

Work Environment
•Regularly work in outdoor weather where wet, humid conditions are possible.
•Occasionally work in confined spaces, and in high places, requiring the use of lift devices.
•Frequently exposed to vibration and loud noises associated with power tools requiring hearing protection.
•Occasionally exposed to oils, chemicals and airborne particles which may require the use of a respirator and to electrical hazards requiring proper specific safety procedures.

Physical Abilities
•Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
•Constantly operate tools and other machinery and regularly relocate machinery to other areas.
•Frequently ascends/descends a ladder whilst working.
•Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
•Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
•Regularly lift up to 75 pounds, correctly lift up to 100 pounds.
•Concentrated attention is required at all times.
•Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
